Transforming Lives through Education, Health, Nutrition, and Empowerment
Child Development Nepal (CDN) is a non-governmental organization committed to uplifting children, youth, and communities through education, health, nutrition, livelihood, civil society development, and disaster resilience. We work to build inclusive, healthy, and self-reliant communities where every individual can live with dignity and opportunity.
Welcome to Child Development Nepal
Registered in 2015 A.D. (2071 B.S.) with District Administration Office, Sarlahi
Child Development Nepal (CDN) was established to bring transformative change in the lives of marginalized and deprived children and communities. Affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC), we work tirelessly to ensure participation, survival, protection, and development rights for all. Since our establishment, we have implemented various projects across Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Nutrition, Child Rights, Adolescent Sexual & Reproductive Health, awareness programs on earthquakes, Violence against Women, vocational training for youth, awareness against human and child trafficking, flood support, and COVID-19 response in coordination with provincial and local governments.
CDN also capacitated child club members about their rights and livelihood programs, benefiting the health of children and families. Orientations are conducted for adolescents, pregnant women, lactating mothers, volunteers, and mothersā groups about the importance of nutritious foods like green vegetables, fish, and eggs during pregnancy and lactation, and for infant health. We also guide mother groups on local budgetary processes to advocate for priority programs like nutrition, livelihood, environmental sanitation, and safe drinking water. Free Health Screening & Help Desk services against COVID-19 were organized in 10 municipalities in coordination with the District Administration Office, Sarlahi. CDN has extensive experience in emergency response and community development, providing immediate relief and supporting long-term rehabilitation of affected families with support from Aide et Action International Nepal. Orientation programs for students cover child physical and mental health, sexual abuse prevention, solid waste management, and handwashing procedures in Barahathawa Municipality and Bishnu Rural Municipality. Awareness campaigns also cover sex, gender, gender inequality, and gender-based violence.
Current Major Project:
The āEducation and Livelihood for Dignified Lifeā program, funded by Aide et Action Nepal and implemented in 10 municipalities, works to improve lives by providing quality education and sustainable livelihood opportunities. The program empowers youth and women through skill development, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and income-generating activities, while promoting gender equality and social inclusion. It also strengthens community well-being by supporting nutrition initiatives and providing COVID-19 relief assistance to vulnerable groups, ensuring everyone has the chance to lead a healthier, dignified life.
Current Major Project:
The "Together for Nutrition program" improves the quality of life for children, youth, and communities by linking education with essential health services. It boosts school enrollment, learning outcomes, and teacher capacity while ensuring inclusive access for marginalized groups. At the same time, it promotes hygiene, nutrition, preventive health, and awareness on safe water and menstrual hygiene. By combining education and health, the program empowers families to live healthier, more informed, and dignified lives.
