Improving Nutrition for Children and Families

In many rural communities of Sarlahi, malnutrition continues to threaten children’s growth, learning and long-term wellbeing. Limited awareness, inadequate diets and poor hygiene practices leave families struggling to provide the nutrition their children need. Through targeted nutrition interventions, Child Development Nepal (CDN) has created meaningful and lasting change. Parents who once relied on rice and potatoes now prepare balanced meals using locally available vegetables, lentils and fruits. Mothers’ Groups and community volunteers trained by CDN regularly guide families on breastfeeding, complementary feeding, safe water and hygiene. School kitchen gardens have become powerful learning spaces where children grow vegetables, learn about nutrition and bring fresh produce home. As a result, children show improved energy, better concentration in class and fewer illnesses. Parents report increased confidence, healthier household habits and stronger food security. These changes are only possible through the generous support of partners and donors who believe in the power of community-driven development. With continued investment, CDN can reach more families, prevent malnutrition before it begins and ensure that every child grows healthy, strong and ready to learn. Your support transforms lives—one child, one family and one community at a time.
