Transforming Attendance, Transforming Futures

Child Development Nepal (CDN), Barahathwa, Sarlahi has been supporting quality education through the Education & Livelihood for Dignified Life Project since 2020, and Shree Tridev Gurukul Primary School in Kaudena RM-2, Inarwa Phulparasi is one of the schools that has seen remarkable improvement. Before the intervention, the school struggled with dirty classrooms, unhygienic toilets, poor drinking water surroundings, lack of learning materials, inactive parents, and low student attendance of just 55% with an enrollment of 200 students. Over two years, CDN provided learning materials, improved the ECCD classroom with carpet, TV and cupboards, trained teachers on Early Literacy and Math Skills, organized teacher meetings and exposure visits, oriented SMC members, formed Mothers’ Groups, conducted extra-curricular activities, and carried out regular school monitoring. As a result, the school now maintains daily sanitation in classrooms, toilets, and water areas; the ECCD class operates according to national norms; teachers use learning materials effectively; and parents visit the school twice a month to monitor their children’s progress. Student attendance has risen dramatically from 55% to 90%, and enrollment has increased to 243 students. The school community expresses deep appreciation to Child Development Nepal for these positive changes and hopes for continued support in the future.
